OK Compost Industrial
Certified for industrial composting facilities
OK Compost Industrial is an official certification label that tells you a product is compostable, but only in an industrial composting facility — not at home. That means the item needs special conditions — like high heat, controlled moisture, and sometimes shredding — to fully break down. It's issued by TÜV Austria, one of the main organisations that certifies compostable products in line with European standards (specifically EN 13432). This standard sets the rules for how fast and how completely a material must break down under industrial conditions.
OK Compost Home
Certified home-compostable within 180 days
TÜV Austria Home Compostable certification, also known as "OK Compost Home," verifies that a product can fully biodegrade in natural household compost conditions within 180 days. It confirms compliance with EN 13432 and ensures the product is safe for soil and plants.

The gold standard for compostable packaging in Europe
EN 13432 certification is the European standard for packaging designed to be recovered through industrial composting and biodegradation. It guarantees that items like bioplastics, food containers, and packaging will break down safely in commercial composting facilities without leaving harmful residues or contaminating the resulting soil.
Why Certification Matters
Not all "compostable" or "biodegradable" claims are equal. Without independent certification, there's no guarantee a product will actually break down — or that it won't leave harmful residues behind.
TÜV Austria and EN 13432 are the most rigorous compostability standards in Europe. When you see these marks on an EcoSprout product, you know it has been independently tested and verified — not just marketed as eco-friendly.
